May 10th 2014 Report

After a long time we lost the toss and bowled first on both the matches. Once again the opposition team were throttled by our bowlers for small totals (53 and 37 ) and our batsmen set the base for the comfortable chase during both the matches and hence we won the series 2-0! Overall, we played good cricket with many positives like Mani , Rana with the ball, Harsha, Sharat with the bat and Satish for his all-round performance.

First match, though Rana bowled brilliantly and he was the main reason to contain the opposition team for 53 runs, I would judge Harsha as the man of the match for his 28 runs simply because it was a tricky surface to bat on with the ball keeping low regularly due to previous night rain.

In the second match, our bowlers took complete advantage of the pitch and bowled even better to contain the opposition team for just 37 runs. I thought Satish bowled really well with his slower ones and also he contributed while batting with a quick fire (11 runs in 6 balls) and rightly he deserved the man of the match award for his all-round performance.

Friends, yesterday I stopped in few traffic signals on the way home and some events that I could gather either by looking at some folks moving around, phone calls I got, things I remembered – there were a lot more, but few given here – the summary at the end!

A person on bike races past me at a high speed  - my mind immediately reacts mumbling this person is crazy.

The same mind a decade back accepted this very crazy act.

Someone calls me on the phone and tells me that she is on the bus, I wonder why the person takes the bus when she can afford a taxi or an auto. Few years back, I was thinking that taking bus was good for environment and also saves me money.

A young couple is intimately on a bike, which is acceptable today for me, while just a few years back I used to question the moral values of society in my mind.

There is a close relative of mine, who, until a few years back was fiercely defending India and was adamantly opposing when someone sought opportunities abroad. His son got a job abroad and he happened to visit them. Suddenly, he comes back and says 'Taj Mahal is nothing in front of the monuments he saw there! And India was 200 years behind'!

The reason I wrote the above was to show how we create perceptions and react over them, during the course of our own journey. What this tells me is that we are not just made of  various experiences right through our lives but also what phase of life we are going through at the time we react. We almost always, behave based on our own beliefs, and so do people around us. So, there is nothing wrong in the way we react, unless and until, we realize that we may have behaved or will certainly behave that way, given the similar situations, experiences and the thoughts that have evolved with us during the course of our life.

Summary is that – do not be harsh on oneself if we cannot always fall in the realm of ‘normal’, for it is perfectly fine, and surely others would be in that space one day or another!!
